I am having a hard time with this course. I felt that I know what direction I want to go in, but I don't
know if it's essential. It's hard to stay focused as well as addressing one of so many issues that are out. I started out with the intention of having my focus be on effective parental involvemenbt that included volunteering, donations, etc. but now I have narrowed it down to the fact that the parent needs to help with the child's progression towards their kindergarten skills. The teachers at the center I am observing think that the parents are not getting involved and that they are doing their work in vain. I tell them to continue to do what they are doing and that every little bit helps.
Hi Vickie -
ReplyDeleteWow! There is so much to think about. I am wondering if you need to find more support for the teachers so they don't feel their work is in vain. If they don't feel what they are doing is enough, it probably isn't because they aren't able to engage the parents. If you could all focus on ways to involve the parents, the teachers may feel more successful.
I didn't see a quote which was part of the assignment. Maybe you can add one. Just trying to help:) Good luck with it all coming together. Time is flying by so quickly. Wendy
Vickie,
ReplyDeleteFirst I would like to congradulate you on the completion of your degree. I am so glad that there are other people in the world that share my love for children and understand the importance of Early Childhood Education. I hope that you found the results you wanted from your presentation and action plan about parental involvement. I too did parental involvment and will be working on getting this plan put into action over the summer break. I wish you the best in our ventures after you complete this class, and hope that you continue to be a great advocate for all young children and their families.
